Team Sagittarius

the Trainer: I recall a time when Sagittarius was basically a mystery sign to me; I knew nothing about it, and could never figure it out. That's until I met more Sagittarians this year and started noticing similarities among them. No matter how distinct they are, they always have this positive disposition to them, Sagittarian men more so than the women. Even when the going gets tough for them, Sagittarians always come through with a wide grin. Even when you're having a bad day, they have this wonderful ability to make you laugh no matter the situation, adding another point towards their positivity. In fact, as I was drawing the trainer to look as enthusiastic as possible, it gave me this extra energy to keep drawing this to finish.
A lot of my design choices reflect two of Sagittarius' main personality traits: their enthusiasm and their free-spirited ways. They absolutely hate restrictions to their freedom, and the type of clothes she wears goes along with that, as it's a metaphor to their freedom of movement (action). This also goes well with their appetite for adventure, wanting to explore every corner of the world and learn something new from that experience (or at the very least always have something fun and exciting to do, by being out and about as often as possible), since it's so loose-fitting that it makes traveling quite comfortable. I once read that yellow is usually linked to happiness due to its warmth, so her Elastika shirt is that color. At the same time, Sagittarius is still around the time winter starts, so she wears a sweater for the occasion, though a very baggy one to fit with that freedom of movement theme. She also wears holly in her hair as an accessory to go with the holiday spirit, but sadly, her arm covers it :XD: I don't know why, but for some reason, I associate blue eyes with having a dreamy state of mind, which I would say reflects Sagittarius' desire to explore.
I had no idea how to incorporate her Mega Stone to her design, so I decided to just draw Korrina's gloves onto her, though they surprisingly fit with the overall warm theme of her outfit. Her hair is shaped to look like a hunting bow as it goes down, and wears arrow-shaped earrings to go with the bow shape of her hair (while also fitting well with that freedom of movement theme, since they dangle). Finally, I decided her signature Pokeball should be the Friend Ball, due to their positivity being such a valuable asset in their friendships.

Shiny Rapidash, the Archer. Well, he's not exactly an archer :XD: but Sagittarius is depicted as half human and half horse, sooooo...Rapidash it is :)

Klefki, the enthusiastic. Though it is said to fiercely jingle its keys to intimidate opponents, I just can't take that entry seriously, and consider it more of an enthusiastic attempt to scare its enemies. Kill them with happiness, Klefki! :XD:

Mega Alakazam, the honest. Because Psychic types have a lot to do with the mind, it goes with honesty being defined as "saying what's on your mind". That being said, Sagittarians can also be honest to point of bluntness and potentially hurting feelings due to that, and since Alakazam is a very strong Psychic Pokemon, its strong Sp Attack is like Sagittarius' sharp honesty.

Chespin, the optimistic. When it was first revealed, Joe (the guy running Serebii) described him as "having a curious nature that tends to get it in trouble, [but] keeps an optimistic outlook and doesn't worry about small details."

Blissey, the indulgentThere are actually two ways to interpret this trait when it comes to Sagittarius' typical personality. It could literally mean that Sagittarius has a tendency to indulge, regardless of whether or not they are fit. If they are (or leaning towards the skinny side), they seem to enjoy getting away with it often, since they seem to assume it won't impact them as significantly as it would other people, or they genuinely don't mind what they eat and can still get away with it; meanwhile, the ones who aren't fit genuinely don't care about it and indulge anyway. On the flip side, this could also go back to Sagittarius typically being the happy-go-lucky people that they are, basically indulging on happiness. The fact that Blissey is classified as the Happiness Pokemon fits very well with the latter interpretation, while its design seems to fit well with the former interpretation. Its many Dex entries seem to fit well with both, and they read: "The eggs it lays are filled with happiness. Eating even one bite will bring a smile to anyone."

Zebstrika, the argumentative. It is said to fire lightning bolts in every direction when it's angry, and is described as an "ill-tempered Pokemon". Much like the lightning bolts it fires in anger, people tend to talk back on impulse when arguing. Yeah, Sagittarius is typically a happy person, but you probably don't want to get on their bad side. Avoid that at all costs...
